I’m a trained researcher and lecturer passionate about all questions regarding language, language use, multilingualism, culture and cognition and about how these fields connect to each other.
I also love travelling, learning new things, and … playing disc golf! I further dedicate myself to supporting the Brandenburg Frisbeesports Association.
Bio
After I graduated in English/American studies and Romance studies at the University of Potsdam, Germany, I further pursued my PhD in English linguistics at the Chair of Development and Variation of the English Language there. I’m currently principal investigator in a sub-project of the BMBF project ReDICo: Researching Digital Interculturality Co-operatively.

Expertise
My research and teaching experience covers some real hot stuff in sociolinguistics … from the culturally oriented strands of Cognitive Linguistics, to questions of language and gender/sexuality in World Englishes, to issues concerning multimodality and intercultural communication. Think that’s random? It’s not, everything connects!
Directly ask me about the connections or check out my research projects and teaching.
Future directions
I’m currently a post-doc researching the role of digital media for social cohesion in diaspora communities. This project has a focus on sociolinguistics and on questions of intercultural communication. Next to this, another research goal of mine is to further contribute to unifying theory and methodology of the so-called cultural model.
Keep updated about my research via ResearchGate and Academia.
